SELF-BUILD CAMPER … WORKSHOP!

Does the title “Build Your Own Overland Camper” or the name Steve Wiggleworth sound familiar? For lot of people both of these definitely will, that’s for sure, as Steve wrote a book on that very subject a couple of years ago. Published by Haynes Manuals it has since become the ‘must have’ publication for those starting out on their first camper build.

Regular visitors to the Adventure Overland Show will also recall that Steve has attended before with his highly recognisable Daf T244 zebra-liveried ‘Trip Truck’, imparting tips and advice about the vehicle and the conversion process from military workhorse to overland expedition truck.

Well the good news is he’s back and kindly volunteered to run a workshop entitled … SELF-BUILD CAMPER WORKSHOP … what else? Owner of a Mitsubishi Delica 4WD as well, it’s clear he will be able to cover the subject whatever size vehicle you have; from 4x4s to 8x8s, the principle is the same!

Comprising of Q&A sessions, the free-to-attend workshops will take place in Seminar Room 2 at 13:00 hours Saturday and Sunday in the racecourse’s main grandstand.

Doubtless he will also cover the dos & don’ts of life on the road behind the wheel of 7.5 tonnes of British steel, and with Leyland Dafs emerging as the most popular truck in the UK for self-build conversion, it’s guaranteed his workshops will be equally as popular. Just back from 3,800 mile round trip to Albania, his knowledge will prove invaluable for anyone about to tackle a similar conversion.

Steve – we’re indebted – make certain you bring a stack of books and a reliable pen with you, I’ve a sneaky feeling you’ll be doing a lot of book-signing over the weekend!
